The National Federation of Fishermen’s Organisations has elected the leader of an east coast shellfish group as its next chairman. Mike Cohen, Chief Executive of the Holderness Fishing Industry Group was elected unanimously at a recent meeting of the NFFO’s Executive, in Plymouth. He will take over as Chairman after the Federation’s AGM next summer.
Current Chairman, Tony Delahunty, said, “I am delighted that I will be succeeded next summer by someone of Mike’s calibre. I am sure that his calm, analytical approach will stand us in good stead. He will have a strong team behind him, including past chairmen who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience.”
Mike Cohen added, “I realise that we are entering a testing period for the industry and I am very grateful for the confidence in me shown by the Federation's leadership. I will do my very best to ensure that the industry’s voice is heard where it matters. What strikes me about the NFFO over the time that I have been involved, is the breadth and diversity of its membership, all united by the conviction that we will fare better if we all pull together.”
